Roseke Engineering Ltd. helped Alberta Transportation to maintain the integrity of the Mountain View – Leavitt – Aetna irrigation canal, which supplies the Mountain View Irrigation District to the east from the Belly River to the west.
The treated timber bridge was nearing the end of its life span with significant rot in the abutments and timber stringers.
The replacement project went very smoothly and all stakeholders were satisfied. The crossing was the only access for the landowner to the west, and Roseke Engineering was able to ensure access through the construction site on well maintained roads, a highly cost effective traffic accommodation measure for small sites.
The west side of the excavation incurred significant sloughing and very poor quality material that would have compromised the structural integrity of the culverts. This material was removed and replaced with better gravel.
